William Shumann, pnajor of the German Evangelical church at Pomeroy was forced to salute the American flag by a crowd of 150 pupils of the publiq schools. Later a flag wus raised over his house and tie was ordered to leave it there. Several days ago Mr. Shumann was arrested under the espionage act, charged with having made disloyal remarks in some of his sermons. He was bound over to the district court under $5,000 bonds. The act of the school children was a result of the arrest.
