House fireA fire Saturday morning completely destroyed the home of Mrs. Alice Stiles in Humeston and badly burned Mrs. Stiles. The fire was discovered by Melvin Pool who was passing by.Mrs. Stiles was preparing dinner for her son, Richard Eikleberry of Des Moines, whom she was expecting.In some manner, the fat from the meat caught fire on the kerosene stove and Mrs. Stiles, who is partially blind, was attempting to extinguish the flames when Mr. Pool arrived.She was taken to the Wayne County Hospital by ambulance, where she remains a patient.
