River via Hienheim. Our leading elements reached the Danube River at 1700.27 Apr. - Forced assault crossings of Danube at Heinheim. Our attack jumped off at 1700. Slow progress and bridging operations were begun at 1800. Co. F, 395 Inf. got acrossthe river but was pinned down all day.28 Apr. - Bridge finally completed and took first traffic at 1917. The approaches are poor and have not been helped by the all-night rain. Advance CP opened momentarily at Abensberg at 2100.29 Apr. - Traffic schedule behind 15 hours but began picking up after daylight. Crossed Danube River on treadway bridge at 1520. Arrived at new CP in Siegensberg at 1700. However, we moved on to Pfeffenhausen, opening in a barroom at 1800. Following us in was a heavy rain and cold wave. We are now preparing to cross the Isar River.
