Transfer of the 4,300 Pacific coastJapanese remaining. in the Merced assembly center to the Granada, Colo;, relocation center will begin Sept. 1, Colonel Karl R. Bendet-sen announced today.Colonel Bendetsen, chief of the wartime civil eontral ^administration, said the transfer rate would, approximate 600 a day until, completed, sometime before Sept. 10, An advance contingent of about 200 left Merced for Granada, Aug. 25.The Granada relocation center is operated by the . war relocation authority. It is located on 10,000 acres in Prowers county, Colorado,. 130 miles east of Pueblo, and will have a capacity of 10,000 evacues.
