Mullin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Mullin, of Hillside.Pastor F. Bartling, who officiated, gave a beautiful and comforting address. One of the hymns sung, “Just As I Am Without One Plea” was Sgt. Mullin’s favorite. Among those attending the service were a group of relatives from Racine, Wis.A memorial fund was donated the Lutheran Army and Navy Commission by the family and altar decorations were placed ere by neighbors and friends. K, 424th Infantry, the following information is available:Sgt. Mullin was a platoon Sergeant in Company K, 424th'Infantry. On 27 January 1945,was attacking a village in the vicinity of Mendell, ^ ’ The Company had suc-driven out the enemy and were preparing to defend oA j the -town against any counterby th.e enemy. A barrage my artillery hit the road over which Sgt. Mullin was.% his troops and Sgt Mulls hit by some shrapnel me of the rounds, which, caused his death at approximately 11:00 a. m., 27 January 1945.
