This is Squire M. C. Nott, of Ararat, Victoria, Australia, the title bere given him being his proper due from the office of Justice of the Peace which he holds at home. He has like wise held the office of mayor of hi3 town of which he has been a resident for forty-six years.Squire Nott Is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Nott, being the uncle of Mr. Nott, who is one of Honolulu's .most respected old residents. The Squi e left New York in 1857 for Australia by way of England, his mother country When he came out to New York he was a clockraaker and must have been a good one, for he found employment in the American metropolis as a maker of mathematical instruments. He was also in the employ of the Novelty Iron Works of New York, once a famous establishment but now for some time extinct.° - vf'arR aero Squire Nott lost his wife by death after they had lived in happy wedlock for more than 57 years. It was this bereavement that caused him to think of travel. From here ho will go to New York, thence perhaps on to England. He is 82 years of age but still bale and hearty.
