It was mailed just one month trom today, and 1 just got it.Mother, there are some very old buildings over here, and the women work in the fields just the same as men do over here. They are very nice people to sret along with. I am learning how to talk French. Last night was our pay night and I drew one hundred and forty-!hire francs, one franc is eighteen cents in our money, so you know how much I drew. We tret paid in French money.I am snvimr my money now so when1 come houie I will brim? you none*relies from over here.This is sure a nice place over* here. We get all we want to eat and drink. We are putting up barracks every day except Sunday. Sunday is a holiday for us. Lat Sunday 1 went to church in the morning and took a walk in the afternoon to see some ot the old houses that were built hundreds of years ago.How is everybody in tin* old town.I haven’t seen anybody over here yd that I *knew from Hamilton. 1 havebeen on guard here and everythin*.? already. They give us chewing and smoking tobaeeo every ten days over here* and a ten per rent increase inwages for overseas service.1 am itill back from the firing line. Tell Rev. Gerhold 1 arrived over licit* snfelv, and I go to church every Sun-day.I Mother, we are going to celebrate1 the Fourth of July. The Fourth falls on a Thursday over here and wo are yoiny to have church and moving pic-tuiTs. I will try to send you one of my pictures when 1 yet them.
