It would be well if all the voters in our state investigated how their congressmen have voted in these last few years on various bills vital to the welfare of our country both at home and abroad,We may excuse their mistakes by saying they have voted a* the majority of their constituency hove wanted them to vote, but It isn’t enough excuse. Their responsibility is greater, By as* suraing the position they have, it is their obligation to consider first of all the welfare of their people rather than what they may want at any given time.A congressman in Washington should be in a position: to know what Is going on and what we may need much better than we, here in our inland stale, cun.*It is an appalling thing that far too many of our congressmen have been so absorbed in their own petty politics and their own •hallow and superficial sense of importance. Too many of them are not honest and their anxiety to help their people is a pre-tense. It is no wonder that we have been so ill prepared to meet this terrible crisis which we face.More than ever before we need to find out-for ourselves what has Jeen and is going on in our governing bodies, To finid the facta—not just listen to talk. And then we should cast our votes*This is bb much the obligation of us citizens of the United States as buying bonds, saving scrap, or joining various organizations to help where we can, it is high time we took this responsibility seriously.
