Oil And War Bring A Boom To LindsborgNo Empty Houses , Now In Swedish Town Near BaseLindsborg — Oil and war have brought a boom to Lindsborg, one time qufet, sleepy • Swedish college town, in the shadow, of Coronado Heights,There's, nothing quiet or sleepy about Lindsborp, now, Seventeen derricks mark active oil wells, and 25 other tests are starting, all close to the town.’At the same time the work nt the army cantonment only a few miles to he north has brought hundreds of workers and their families to Lindsborg to live.. There are - no empty houses live. There are-no * empy houses or rooms In -Lindsborg, but many are making homes in trailers or pitching tents.Hotels and restaurants are filled*. and business is booming. Since the first of the year when it became known the army cantonment would be located a few miles north of here real estate has been moving, many houses rn Lindsborg as well as farms near the town changing hands.At Smolan, a few miles to the north, where headquarters for the army base construction are located 4,000 people are now living where formerly was a town of 200. There are B,Q00 workers now at the cantonment job. Tents and trailer houses by the hundreds arc making mushroom villages in the Smolan area.At Falun, also north of Lindsborg, the school board had planned to close the high school because so many families in that area, farced to vacate farms taken for the big army baae, were moving away from the school district, i But notf^ylth thousands of people moving into the cantonment , area, families • of construction { workers, it appears there will be enough boys and. girls in these temporary family residents to ne-essitate holding high schoot. after all*
