Soldiers Reunion and Dedication of MonumentTuesday was almost an unbear-ble day so far as weather conditions obtained, being1 dry, hot, dusty and windy. T^esc all combined were not conducive to bringing out a large crowd to attend the Taylor county Veterans annual reunion in the forer.uon, nor to attend the monument dedictory services in the afternoon. Hut notwithstanding the combination put up by the weather man the attendance at both functions was very good.The veterans association was called to order in the park at Itn o’clock by President, I. VV. AbbottMusic was furnished by the splendid drum corps of Clarinda. This organization is composed of Zu musicians and *s one of the best martial bands in the state. The people certainly appreciated their music and will always give them a hearty welcome.• Following the business session of the association, Hon. J. S Francis gave a very entertaining ten minutes talk to the veterans. He was followed by Rev. Pruitt, a former pastor here, who gave* a splendid ten minute address. Following him Hruce Flick of Bedford gave a most excellent address. This closed the exejcises of the association.Officers elected for the coming year were i W. Abbott, president, Frank Blown, secretary. The place of holding the reunion next year was fixed for Sharpsburg.About 75 veterans were in attendance. a goodly number being present from Gravity, Bedford and Clarinda, besides others from various parts of the county, ji was a splendid meeting and much enjoyed by the old “coffee coolers” who attended.J.
