Tuttle, one of Putnam county's most respected citizens, died j at his home in Clinton tp., Wednesday i morning at 6:30 o'clock after a six-j weeks’ illness of cancer of the liver.I Mr. Tuttle was born near Cincin-' nati, ^July 15, 1839, being; 76 years | old. When only a youngster his parents went to Hancock county, Ind., and settled there. He spent his boy-, , hood days in that community and in 1861, he enlisted in the 20th Indiana Regiment and served in the Civil War.• He spent four years and six months in the army and established a very crt ditable record as a soldier. 'After the war he came to Putnam county to take his home. He was for many years chief engineer at the { f Oakalla quarries in Madison Township and the nail factory In south Creen-castle. After spending a number of years in this community he went to i Indianapolis and from there u Mun-1 ; cie, where he was engaged in busi-, nlt; lt;s.
