Goodin*, farmers Retting their irrigation water by means of the MUner-Goodlng canal today had served notice on government officials that they would light to keep the Japs from gelling water which fanners need to produce their crops.Resolution emphatically opposing diversion of irrigation water to the Jap relocation center near Eden went out today to governmental officials as the opening gun in the fight.Rumblings of discontent over the situation as pertains Lu placing 10,000 Japs on the governnicut land, and taking water from the MUner-Goodlng canal lo irrigate that land, were heard in the audience of more than 200 farmers and ranchers who crowded into the Gooding countv court rooms yesterday. There were challenges of -just let the army try to get our water. and •'we’ll get out and fight for our water thrown by members of the audience as Gov. Clark and Mayor James said in 110 uncertain terms what they thought of bringing the Japs into the section and diverting water to them.It developed during the conference. at which former Stale Sen. W. j. Tapper, Richfield, presidentof the board of American Falls district number two, presided, that the speakers and the fanners were not so much against bringing the Japs Into tills section. They arc vigorously against giving them irrigation water which they claim is vitally needed by those getting it from the 56-mile long Milner-Gooding canal.“If this thing goes through we will find ourselves once again short of water, and our crops once again will burn up during I he latter part of the summer from lack of water,” James, who is also attorney for the American Palls district number two, said. We will find to our sorrow that we have once again mistakenly listened to the opinions of so-called water experts whose guesses seem almost always wrong as to the amount of water needed, as has been demonstrated by the history of the project.”(Ccntinurd on Togo 7.
