War Prison Camp Sought in CountyWestminster, Md., April 25 ()— The State War Manpower, Commission, having certified the use of300 German prisoners of war incanneries in Carroll, Howard and Baltimore counties, is attemptingto locate a prisoner camp somewhere in Carroll county, officials reported today.State Director Lawrence B. Fen-neman said attempts to put the camp at Blue Ridge College had been unsuccessful, as had 'efforts to obtain use of the TaneytownFairgrounds.The prisoners are expected to be available about the middle of May and probably, will be put to work in 25 canning plants in the threecounties, Fenneman said.
