There has been no word from the remainder of the bomber’s crew.Lt. Cleland attended Proviso high school and Northwestern university. He was a member of Acacia fraternity, and after graduation wgs employed by the Crane company until August 1942 whenhe enlisted. He received flighttraining In air bases in California, Washington, Coforado, Nebraskaand New Mexico and was based at Langley field, Va., before he left for overseas duty. He saw action in North Africa before the Italian invasion. He is 20 years I of age.
