A number of good riders, composed, of cowboys and others, are already contemplating joining one of the several regiments of cavalry being formed in this part of Texas, principally those of Judge Timon of Corpus Christ! or Sam Robertson of San Benito, this city to be represented by a complete troop of cavalry. F. I-L Ligarde of this city, who is ex-postmaster, volunteered to raise a, company Df infantry or a troop of cavalry here, but the response received from the adjutant general’s department was to the effect that volunteers were not yet called for except to enlist in the national guard or United States army to bring those organizations up to acombined war strength oT 500,000 men.
