Construction Machinery Co. to Receive Flag May 10 in Ceremonies.The Construction Machinery Co., Waterloo, has been selected to receive the army-navy “E” production award, it was announced Wednesday, as the company made plans for a mass presentation ceremony May 10 at East high \ school auditorium. jLell S. Holden, president of the | company, received notification cf the award in a citation from Undersecretary of the Navy James Forrestal, which said it was *'for outstanding production of war materials.”Makes Navy P.umps.The company has been chiefly engaged in the manufacture of self-priming centrifugal pumps for the navy, as well as concrete mixers, all of which are finished here in complete units and boxed for export shipping.High-ranking army and navy officials are expected here for the presentation ceremony, at 4:30 p. m. on May 10.The company employs about 200 men and is 100 per cent devoted to war production.Used in Salvage.Some of its pumps were used on the largest salvage job in history, the pumping of millions of gallons of water from the S. S. Lafayette, which, as the liner Normandie, capsized in New York harbor.The pumps are 'turned out at the rate of several hundred a week.The plant has its own gray iron foundry, and in it makes all its own castings. Besides turning out five tons of castings a day for use in the plant, some are made for other factories.Mixers for Services.The gasoline-powered concrete mixers manufactured by the company are of the rotary type and the asphalt mixers are of the paddle type.All the company’s products now going to the navy, but in the past some have been purchased by the army engineering corps.Besides Holden, officials of the Construction Machinery Co. are G. A. Loveall, vice president; H. R. McDermott, vice president, and C. L.
