The people back home can be sure the donations weren’tfor naught.*’Mrs. Patzer, a block captain againthis year in the Red Cross drive, collected $19, nearly four times the amount contributed in her block last year.She and her husband were surprised and delighted to get Easter flowers from their son, delivered to them the day before Easter.Before going into service, Sgt. Patzer vas employed for seme time at the National store in St. Joseph and later worked lor the Nineteen j Hundred corporation.Service with the U. S. Army has put some extra pounds on the young sergeant, whose weight has jumped from 165 pounds to 193 pounds.Serving with a field hospital in Italy, Sgt. Patzer told about books received recently from the Red Cross, and said one of the first hesaw was a history of St. Joseph, Michigan, with a picture of the pier at St. Joseph on the cover. •‘Imagine how that made me feel/' said the young St. Josephite.
