Party in Honor of Soldiers News From Statesville, R-3.Correnpondenee of The Landmark.Statesville, R-3, April 10.—We fear the recent cold spell played havoc with the peaches. The nights are real cool yet, but the days are ideal.The boys are coming* home. Privates Marvin Lippard, Sidney Litton, Glenn Ostwalt of Co. F, and Perry Ostwalt of Co. G., 105th Ammunition Train, 30th Division, arrived last week and we hope that those who remained in France may come home soon. Miss Sudie Ostwalt gave a party at her home Saturday night in honor of the soldier boys. Miss Nancy Lip-pard had a singing at her home in honor of her brother. Mrs. W. L. Or-ren, who has been sick with influenza, is improving, we are glad to say,Mr, and Mrs. I. S. Ostwalt and daughter, Mabel, were in Concord township to atend the funeral of Mrs, Ostwalt’s father, Mr, F. M, Abernethy.Mr. and Mrs, John F. Ostwalt received. an announcement Saturday of the marriage of their son, Ralph, and Miss Lois Tompson, of Charlotte. The marriage took place March 15th. Mr, Ostwalt holds a position with a firm in Columbus, Ga,Mr. Perry Ostwalt went to Winston-Salem this morning to look for work, ftjisses Katie Ostwalt and Bessie Gantt ^closed a successful school at Clark’s Friday.Welcoming Hoys Home — Harmony, R-3, Items.Cprrsspondencct of The Landmark,Harmony, R-3, April 10 — After the refreshing shower Friday the farmers are busy with their crops.. . Mr, Charles Anderson received a letter from his son, Spurgeon, stating he had landed safely in the Unit- j ed States. Spurgeon was with the; 119th Infantry. Private Frank Hill, of the 105th Machine Gun Battalion, is discharged from the army and is with us again. All are glad to welcome the veterans home and have them tell their thrilling* experiences with the Huns. We do not object to! their wearing gold chevrons, for we owe them more than some pople im-a trine.
