Since Easter Sunday Juan has been known in Brownsville, as the “bunny-rnbbit soldier.’ His knee cap had been slia tiered by n ball, and dressing the wound icaused the little fellow intense suffering. On the afternoon of Easter day when the time came for the ordeal, he beennn* badly frightened and cried piteously. His terror could not be allayed Until Miss Ho Henke Nixon, a volunteer nurse, offered him a wooly brown Easter rabbit if he wovild go through the operation ‘‘like a little man.*’ The bov clutched a I. the bunny eagerly, pulled ‘ himself logether, and went through the painful process with scarcea whimper.The diminutive soldier was a favorite wilh the hospital staff, though he was not a tractable patient.
