ana seaicu -----After we get up in the air and areover the jump field, we are told to stand up and hook up. When he says, “Hook up,” he means the 15 foot static line which is hooked to a cable in the plane. It’s purpose is to pull out our chute. Then he’ll tell us to get ready and for the first man to stand in the door. When he says that, you can figure to be out in space within seconds as he’ll say, “Go by,” then. Twelve men can get out of a plane in around 10 seconds, which is movingPlWey jump at the speed of 90 miles an hour. What I mean is that is the rate of speed of the plane when we go out. You don't drop very far below before the'parachute opens. They tell us to count, “One thousand, two housand, three. thousand,” and then [f it isn't open to pull our reserve chute, but I never got any fuithei than two thousand. I will say its a wonderful feeling when you feel theChHave0Pbeeng pretty lucky, as I wasmade an instructor in' thepacking de-naae an • * t1 . K __oartment.
