May 25 —(JP)— Republicans in convention here yesterday instructed their 49 delegates to the national convention to vote for the re-nomination of President Herbert Hoover.The convention by resolution likewise endorsed a tariff on oil imports. a protective tariff in generaland the state organization. It wenton record as being opposed to cancellation of war debts.Some dissatisfaction over failure of the 14th Di«trict delegates to re-endorse Mrs. J. C. Griswold of San Antonio as national committecwoman was expressed off the floor, but itdid not reach the convention.In an address. John W. Philp ofDallas, fourth assistant postmaster general, defended President Hoover's Administration!Report of the committee on nominations. nominating 36 delegates and 13 delegates-at-large to the national convention. was read by Henry Zweifel of Fort Worth, chairman. It was adopted by the convention.Delegates-at-large were R. B-Creagcr of Cameron. Eugene Nolte of Guadalupe. Orville Bullington of Wichita. 1. P. Lee of Harris, J. F. Lucey of Dallas. H. E. Gray of Fannin.Mrs. Griswold to Go.The only controversy appeared to hinge on choice of a national com-mitteewoman, who for the past eight years has been Mrs. J. C. Griswold of San Antonio. Re-elcction of R. B. Creager of Brownsville as national committeeman was assured. While the convention itself does not choose committeemen it selects delegates to the national convention, who elect.The state organization has Indicated It would favor dropping Mrs. Griswold because she was “unpopular and would endorse Mrs. C.
