TCR.New acquisitions■ Three murals painted in Iowa City during the '30s by Mildred Pelzer have been donated to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art by R.T. Dick’’ Feddersen of North Liberty. The most important of the three. 1833 Symphony of Iowa 1933. will be installed in the museum's Stamats Library. It is a 7-by- 10-foot picture story created for the Press-Citizen building in Iowa City and intertwines the art and history of Iowa during that century.‘It’s an excellent way to learn our state's history, particularly for school children. Feddersen says.Feddersen was a close friend of the artist's two sons who were killed in World War II. The late Pelzer studied at the University of Iowa and lived in Iowa City for many years.The two other Pelzer gifts are Locating the Capitol and We Build our Capitol 1841. which focus on Iowa City’s Old Capitol. The territorial government used the building before the seat was moved to Des Moines.
