Natalia Aszkenazy To Be Presented By Literary j Council Wed. AfternoonOn Wednesday afternoon. January 26. a 3:30 o'clock In the Parish house of the Church of the Holy Comforter, the Council of LIU *ary clubs will present Natalia Aszkenazy, as second speaker of the lecture series.Natalia Aszkenazy. one of the few women diplomats In the world and the first woman to represent Poland in international diplomacy, has just returned from 14 months In Moscow as attache to the Polish embassy there.The career of this small, darkeyed. attractive young woman has been little short of meteoric. A native of Warsaw, Miss Aszkenazy comes from one of the oldest and most prominent families in Poland. Her father was a banker and one of her uncles was minister plenipotentiary and envoy extraordinary from his country to the League of Nations. Another uncle a professor and historian at the University of Warsaw.Educated In Milan. Paris and at the University of Geneva. Switzerland. Miss Aszkenazy’s fortunes were such that It was not necessary for her to consider a career until 1939 when she left her native land for Prance and later came to America. Here she began work with the American Red Cross and so distinguished herself that shortly afterward she was appointed Public and Press Relations Officerfor the Polish Embassy in Washington. D. C. There she workedunder Count Jerzy Potocki. Polish ambassador and under Jan Ciecha-newski when he supplanted Potocki j* in a diplomatic shkeup In March.1 1940.Early in 1942.
