Outstanding Indian t Honored In OklahomaANADARKO, Okla. —UP—The outstanding Indian of 1955, Mrs. Helen L. PetersOit of Washington, D.C., is the guest of honor here this week at the 24th annual American Indian Exposition.Mrs. Peterson, executicc direc-lor of the National Congress of American Indians, has long been a leader in the field of human relations. She served six years on the mayor s human relations committee at Denver,Robert Goombi, exposition president, said the directors are honoring her because of the work she has done for the advancenent of Indians.The colorful exposition, which lias brought thousands of visitors into the Indian capital of the nation, ends Saturday with a full -dress parade and historical pageant in honor of Mrs. Peterson. Thirty Indian tribes will participate.
