The Wells Base Ball Association has just signed up John Wesley Donaldson, the famous colored pitcher, to play with them next season, and they may be expected to produce one oi the strongest semi-professional baseball teams in the northwest for the season of 1915. Donaldson played with the All Nation team last year and this year. The Wells club will pay Donaldson two hundred and fifty dollars per month during the season of 1915. The manager of a New York league club offered him $10,000 per year upon condition that he go to Cuba, and change his name and deny his negro blood. Mr. Donaldson, has, however, been prevailed upon by his mother, whom be considers first and foremost in all of his memories and whom he never fails to remember with a letter each day, and absolutely refused this manager’s offer. —Wells Minor.
