PUTS BAN ON BOXING CONTESTCaptain Silk Informs “Shine” Reed That He Must Not Fight.Captain Silk, who lias been acting chief of police for several days during absence of Chief Sweeney, throw a boumshell into the ranks of the sporting fraternity yesterday by informing “Shine” Heed, the local boxer, that the boxing contest between him and Jog Flaherty, of Lowell, Mass., that has been advertised as the attraction for tonight at the Armory hall, must not occur.Captain Silk recoivod a number ofcomplaints and he thought that ho would advise the local contestant in advance what the consequences would be if they entered the ring.Joe Flaherty arrived here last evening from Chicago and today the sports are looking for a new rendezvous.
