That was as far as Boswell ever got.The Lions first surge was early in the opening period. Ridge had received. the kickoff antj punted in a 4th and 1 situation before Roger Lamens pounced on a Boswell fumble on the Bear 47. Marlin Cathers picked up nine yards on the first play from scrimmage. On second down Stan Mock rifled a pass to Jerry Saylor on the 16.Two running plays put the ball on the 9. Mock’s pass was incomplete, but on fourth down he flipped it to Larry Ickesin the , end zone. Saylorkicked all the Lions’ PAT’s.Later in the period Mockdived/over from the. two toup the margin to 14-0. Ridge added its final tally in the final 'quarter ' when Marlin Cathers took it from the 14 across “the goal stripe in two plays.After tneir first TD the Lions drove to the Boswell 15, picked up four to %e U and stalled three .-on three consecutive incomplete passes. Boswell managed. to get the ball just over the 20 on three play3, and with 4th and about one.foot, decided to go for it. The desperate dive bounced off a solid Lion lir e and Ridge took over.Larry Rose carried to the 15, Larry Benton to the 11, and with fourth and. one, Mock rambled to the'four.' Two plays later he went over for-the score.Boswell took their own punt in the second period, but lost five yards on the first three plays; With fourth and 15 they again tried to break through the Ridge wall, ; but lost another yard.Ridge fought to the Boswell 24 despite 20 yards in penalties, but the drive faltered whenBoswell flanker E. Pluta Intercepted Mock’s ^fourth - down pass.Ridge kicked off in the third period and the teams traded punts before the Lions marched from their 31 to the Boswell 26, only to lose the ball on downs. ~ -The defensive squad stopped Boswell again and Ridge took the punt on their , own 26. Eight running plays advanced the Lions to the 11, but a penalty made it second down and 14. Cathers then broke loose to the eight, before going down the middle for the score.Boswell took the kickoff and punted after three running plays were good for only four yards.
