That was as far as Boswell ever got.The Lions first surge was early in the opening period. Ridge had received. the kickoff antj punted in a 4th and 1 situation before Roger Lamens pounced on a Boswell fumble on the Bear 47. Marlin Cathers picked up nine yards on the first play from scrimmage. On second down Stan Mock rifled a pass to Jerry Saylor on the 16.Two running plays put the ball on the 9. Mock’s pass was incomplete, but on fourth down he flipped it to Larry Ickesin the , end zone. Saylorkicked all the Lions’ PAT’s.Later in the period Mockdived/over from the. two toup the margin to 14-0.
