Vemor had been on the short end of the statistics against Mattoor unci Herrin.The victory was the second for Coach Wayne Williams’ Redbirds and It was the opener for West Frankfort In South Seven conference Competition. Previously the Birds had dumped Carbondnle and lost to Johnston City In nonleague play.In other loop games last night powerful Marion remained undefeated by rapping Benton 28-14, and Centralia and Herrin battled to a 13-13 tie.Fullback Eddie Edwards, playing his best game in two seasons, was the chief ground-gaining operative for Mt.
