BHS to challenge for boys crown?The Hawk EyeBurlington will have to unseat AlP2l notphnnlf Dhai;«„Muscatine to win the Class AA MrCcl MOiePOOK Phillipsboys division at the 10th Gray hound Invitational cross country meet at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Flint Hills Golf Course.BHS, fresh off a victory in yesterday’s Van Buren Invitational, will battle Muscatine, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant and Ottumwa in the AA field.“If it works out, I think it will be between Muscatine and us,” BHS coach Jim Fenton said. “Fort Madison will be a darkhorse.”The Grayhounds will enter a lineup of Gus Phillips, Scott Sink,Scott Moser, Brian Dameron,James Davis and Devin Mears. The last spot will probably go to senior Kurtis Kelly, according to Fenton.“They’ve been a surprise because of the fact we don’t have a lot of letterwinners back,” Fenton said.“We don't have a lot of people who have run high school cross country.We are getting some really pleasant surprises.”Danville’s boys and Wapello’s girls are expected to dominate in Class A. Other teams in the small-school field are Central Lee, Columbus, Harmony, Mediapolis and Van Buren.In the Class AA girls meet, Muscatine and Mount Pleasant are expected to challenge for the title.“It should be a good meet and there should be some good competition,” Fenton said. “It’s one of the best courses in southeast Iowa.”Sink
