New Paltz harriers rated highNEW PALTZ Ed Bell is starting his fourth year as cross country coach at theState University College here with what he considers potentially the most talented team he’s had.While that still remains to be seen, the squad is at least hislargest - 11 members. And it is young — three freshmen, three sophomores and five juniors.One of the freshman, Omar Rodriguez, is pressuring junior Paul (Nipsy) Spadaro for the topspot. Other leading candidates are juniors Larry Levitz and BobI Cutty) Cunningham. .Those runners will likely hold down the first four spots. Three candidates — freshmen DennisSchook and John Baptista and junior John Groth — are battling for the fifth position.Bell, whose team finished 5-4 iast season, has lost his first (Jim Longo) and third (Jim Borden)runners through graduation. But he feels the freshmen --Rodriguez, Schook and Baptista -will makeup for the loss.
