WHISKERS” ADAMS DEFEATS EDDIE METER IN LEGION FEATURE MATCHTOTEMPOLE ANDY LOSES ON DISQUALIFICATION WHILE DEAN POLE LARRY WINS OPENING NUMBER OF RASSLE SHOW CARDThe first of the fall “rasslo shows” drew a fair crowd to the Shrine arena last evening and the faithful were treated to about two and one-half hours of rough and tumble entertainment In the double headline bill, staged by the American Legion.Hugh “Whiskers” Adams, bearded House of David wrestler, guve the fans what they wanted when he beat Eddie Meyer of Great Falls, two out of three falls, In their headline match which was good and produced some comedy and new tricks as well as enough rough-house to satisfy the most rabid, l/oseis on FoulTotempole Anderson lost on disqualification to Lew Kotonen in the other main event after he had won the first fall in the second round, Totempole had plenty of color hut his kicks and battering was illegal, according to Referee Ray Higgins, who came in for his share of actior* and abuse in the course of the evening. The opening event was of higher class than was expected and produced a good boy In this Beanpole | Larry of Kalispell, who made a favorable impression on the fans in disposing of Len Jorgenson, Great Falla Butcher boy, two falls out of three, the first fall going the Great Falla youngster while Beanpole, the tallest middleweight wrestler in the game, captured the second and third falls In the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively.Adams Has ColorWhiskers Adams captured the fancy of the crowd and they were for him all the way with tough Eddie Meyer, who’s specialty is crowd baiting. Meyers had plenty of opposition from the youngsters last night who want to see good clean fun and don’t like some of the Great Falls man’s tricks. At thatMeyer la a man who gets the fans there and from the wrestler viewr-point he Is therefore a success.Adams was plenty fast and clever. He had a bag of tricks that would rival the best of the boys on this circuit, and his whiskers were used to more advantage than disadvantage in beating Meyer last night. The House of David wrestler won the first fait with what ho calls the House of David Special, a hold that had Mr. Moyor pretty well tied up in which Adams gathered Meyer’s legs under him with the head on the anklesMeyers won the second fall in the fifth round after an even fourth but Whiskers came back, somewhat groggy from his beating, but shrewd enough to realize that Eddie couldn’t take the “whisker treatment.”Want to See TotemIt was regretable that Totempole Anderson had to be disqualified in his match with Kotonen as the hardy N’orsman showed he tvas a showman from the opening gong until the wild finish. Ho won his first fall in the second round but lost the second fall when ho failed to return to the ring In the count of 20 after being dumped over the ropes a couple of times. He was attempting to do the very thing to Kotonen that happened to himself. In the fifth round he went Ber-serko and decided that the best way to dispose of Kotonen was to kick him out of the ring and refused to heed the two warnings issued by Higgins. It was then a matter of Higgins throwing him out of the ring which he did to the mingled delight and disappointment of the fans who wanted to see the boys go at it. Doubtless Totempole will be given a rematch with some other boy and when he goes again he will produce color and nothing else.
