Indians Lose In Toulon By 24-6 Score FridayFor the third Friday night in a row the Wyoming Indians spotted their opponents the first touchdown of the! game, but in Toulon last Friday nightthey weren’t able to come from behind. They were able to tie the game up at six all. but when the final gun j sounded the Trojans had scored once i in every period to win 24-6 and stay in a tie for first place in the Black-hawk standings.Toulon scored their first touchdown on the second play on which they had the ball. It came on a 54 yard pass from Gray to Foglesong. It was, unfor. tunately, a portent of what was to come. A pass for the extra points failed. The Indians scored their only touchdown on the first play of the second period when O’Neill went over from the one. It was set up when Toulon fumbled on their own 13 after Wyoming had lost the ball to them on a fumble on the 14 on the preceding play. O-’Neill passed to Rapp who took the ball to the four. Chesser took it to the one | on the next play and then O’Neill scored. A plunge for the extra point failed and the score was tied at 6-6.Just a half minute before half time Toulon went back into the lead with a four yard pass from Gray to Fogle-scng. Another attempt for the extra points failed, as did all of them during the game. IWith 5:15 left in the third period a double reverse found the Indians drift, ing to the right but Duncan went to the left and covered 70 yards for the score. The final score came with two and a ' half minutes played in the final period. | Foglesong went through center for 25 yards and the score, somehow without a hand really being laid upon him.The Indians suffered some tough breaks but one of the things that reallymade the difference was that the Trojan pass defense functioned well all evening. They intercepted four passes while the Indians were able to complete only five. This Friday night the Indians face another tough opponetnt in the Manlius Red Devils, who are tied for the top spot with three wins and no loses. Last Friday night they were impressive with a 42-0 win over a weak Elmwood team. jCoach Gary Johnson told The Post Herald Monday, “They got to our weakness early and took advantage!of our inexperienced defense. We have five new starters on defensethis year. j“That’s football. We’ve done it to people in the past and will do it a-gain. Don’t dwell on defeat but comeback with a positive attitude this week. Manlius is one of the best teams in the conference and we want to give a better account of ourselves this time around.” I
