Buzz of the Burg **«®.NO NICER TRIBUTE could have been piW anyone than that of Perry Swisher in regard to our old friend, Kenny Roebuck, We thought * great deal of Kenny, We were much together in the earlier political campaigns, in that. dark era of American politics when FDR had the deer pee pul under his absolute control, and there were times when Kenny and log appeared to be tfie only individuals In Bannock county who admitted openly they were still Republicans and proud of it. Kenny bad many friends, in many walks of life and we all will miss him.THE PAST SUMMER is the first season ilnce 1S2B when we haven't had An American Legion Junior basebal team In this commun* ity. Pocatello Legion Post officials blame our city Roercaiion setup for a lack of cooperation which resulted in the demise of Legion bil. They claim that the Recreation group would not allow boys who played on their team* to play with ffie Legion, We hope this condition can be remedied next year as the best young players In the community should eventually end up on the Legion team, because Legion ball offers competition which may eventually lead to state, district, regional and national championships. A number of former Legion players are now with the Big Leagues. We certainly. have no objection to clir city recreational department sponsoring teams, as here is an outlet for the boys whot love to play baseball. However, we do think that some plan of cooperation could beworked out whereby the 'test of the city recreation players eventually play for the Legion. Fred Tydeman Is the father*’ of Legion baseball in Pocatello and every year except for the past summer be has managed the organization. Ernest Veach, who played on the first Legion team, Is now connected with the Western Union here* Pocatclio should not drop Legion baseball as it offers a fine opportunity to the boy who has more than just a spurting interest in the game* Also, tfe think it is a privilege far any boy to come in contact and under the influence of Fred Tydeman. ■lt; .
