Dr. Kiyo Tashiro May Accept Position At Grand View HospitalInterviewed By Hospital AuthoritiesDr. Kiyo Tashiro, applicant for the position of Tuberculosis Medical Director, arrived on the range on Friday, September 19th for an interview with the Board of Trustees of the Grand View Hospital and the Sanatorium Committee of the Gogebic County Board of Supervisors. He spent Friday and Saturday visiting the hospital and places of interest in the County.The Board of Trustees and Sanatorium Committee were unanimous in their approval of Dr. Tashiro if he would accept the position. 1Mr. Drazkowski reported that he had talked with Dr. Tashiro by telephone early this week and that the doctor appeared very enthusiastic with regard to accepting the position, but that he had not fully made up his mind. The doctor stated that he was very much j pleased with the Grand View Hos-I pital and its facilities and reported' that his definite decision would be made in the very near future.!Dr. Tashiro was born in Chicago on November 18, 1916, the son ofJapenese-Ameriean parents. Heis married and is the father of three children, ages 4 mos. 6 and7 years. IDr. Tashiro received his M. D.1degree from the College of Medicine at the U. of Cincinnati. He interned at Jewish hospital, Cincinnati, an institution with 264 beds, during 1944 and 1945. In subsequent years he practiced at St. Thomas hospital in Akron, Ohio, Kings County hospital, Long Island, N. Y. a general hospital with 2,509 beds. Doctors hospital,!New York, N. Y. Dr. Tashiro is presently Supervising T. B. Physician at Herman N. Biggs Memorial hospital, Ithaca, N. Y.1897 CLASSMATESMEETThe graduating class of A. D. Johnston high school in 1897 numbered exactly three. They were George H. Davey, Mary C. Vomastek and Vina R. Gray.During the past week, Mrs. Mary Guyer, the former Mary Vomastek and Mrs. Vina Prentiss. the former Vina Gray met for the first time in years.They are the surviving members of this class and they enjoyed quite a reunion. Both are former school teachers, having taught in the local schoolsystem. Mrs. Prentiss is visiting her rister, Mrs. Margaret Penglase, of this city.Scouts Add Ten New MembersTen new members were admitted to the Boy Scout Troop No. 116, at a meeting held Tuesday night. New members include David Nemacheck, Donald Newman, Joseph Soflo, Darryl Pricco, Joseph Budnik, David Lake, Michael Jag-ielski, Melvin Davey, Raymond Mussatti, ahd Allen Wroblerki.Activities at the camp south of Tilden will be resumed. Plans were made to clear the grounds and the camp made ready for over night camping trips.A water supply will be developed, and other improvements are planned.Troop leaders are Val Bielecki and CArl A. Olson.Mr. and Mrs. James Gervasio of Marquette visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gervasio of Ramsay, last week end.
