Steam For Last Minute ScoreHuge Following of Local Fans See Kyle Men in Second Game of SeasonIn the second game of the season for the locals, and the first game to be played on the new night field at Lexington, Coach Graham Kyle’s Rockdale Tigers emerged victorious from the tussle with the Lexington Eagles last Friday night, in what proved to be a thriller-diller to local fans. The score was 7 and 6.The Tigers were accompanied to Lexington by what was probably the largest group of local fans ever to assemble at an out-of-town game, and who were well repaid for their trip in the last three minutes of the game when the Tigers really got down to business and sacked up the seven points necessary to win the game by a hair! The Kyle men looked good in the opening minutes of the game after receiving the kickoff from Lexington, and kept the ball the entire time, except for three plays, during the first quarter. The real thrill of the game, however, came in the latter part of the fourth quarter when the locals received the ball on downs on their own 31 yard line and took off on a touchdown march that put the ball over the goal line with only 45 second:; to spare. The extra point was gained on a running play after faking an attempt to punt. The Lexington Eagles chalked up their score in the second quarter, after being handed the ball on the Rockdale nine yard lino, but their try for extra point failed to pay off. Mundy and O’Bier, scatbacks, did most of the ball-totin’ for the Eagles, and Mundy was a standout |at the punting job.
