S., the ex-Ponca publisher, chooses Nebraska over Minnesota.♦ ♦ ♦Mrs. Jack Germain — the former Phyllis Otto—-is content with her laurel* as a golfer and has taken up her role as a housewife, which leaves little time for tournament competition and all that it involves. Phyl, winner of the 1945 Western amateur with a daaaling surprise victory over Babe Didriltson Zaharies and the 1946 women’s intercollegiate titlist, may compete n some major amateur tournaments if they do not involve too much travel, but her present schedule calls for only domestic duties. Tournament golf requires a lot of time and money and so does the home—Phyl has elected to devote her intereststo the latter.♦ ♦ ♦
