On the other end is Matt Kelly, a 16-year-old goalie who considersplaying time a bonus.And right there in the Cedar Rapids Rough-Riders’ crease is the United States Hockey League in a nutshell.Hockey dreams and one tedious road trip take off tonight for the RoughRiders, when the first-year USHL franchise faces off with the expansion Sioux Falls Stampede tonight at Sioux Falls, S.D.The RoughRiders, formerly the North Iowa Huskies, will play their first 25 games on the road before opening the yet-to-be-named Cedar Rapids ice arena on New Year’s Eve.The city is trying to sell the rights to name the ice arena,■ Turn to 3C: RoughRiders■ What: Cedar Rapids RoughRiders junior “A” ice hockey hockey team■ Home: Cedar Rapids Ice Arena (unofficial name) with a seating capacity of 4.000, scheduled to open in December■ Affiliation: East Division of the United States Hockey League■ Other USHL teams: TheRoughRiders are joined in the East Division by Dubuque Fighting Saints, Green Bay Gamblers, Rochester Mustangs, USA Hockey National Team, Thunder Bay Flyers, and Waterloo Black Hawks; The WestDivision consists of Des Moines Buccaneers, Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks, Lincoln Stars, Omaha Lancers, Sioux City Musketeers,Sioux Falls Stampede and Twin Cities Vulcans■ Schedule: The RoughRiders open the season tonight at Sioux Falls.S.D., then travel to Fridley, Minn., to play Twin Cities Saturday.
