Dover girls capture title in Wooster raceWOOSTER — Dover won the girls’ division while New Philadelphia captured runnerup honors in Class AAA boys’ action at the Wooster Invitational cross country meet Saturday.Laura Hastedt led Dover by placing fifth in 21:30, whileteammate Kristin Herman was ninth in 21:47, Lesia Bennett 13th in 22:24 and Sondra Hicks 18th in 22:41. Dover totaled 85 points to 96 for second-place Wooster.New Philadelphia’s Amy Fenton placed second in the girls’ competition with a time of 20:54. The Quakers were ninth in the team standings.Brad Whitis paced the Quaker boys in second place with a time of 16:52, while Todd Evans finished seventh in 17:24 and Matt Whitis eighth in 17:32. Wadsworth won the title with 40 points, just two ahead of New Philadelphia.The Quakers also scored well in the reserve meet as Chris Walker finished second and Mike Millerthird.Dover placed sixth in the boysA-AA standings, with Tornado senior Bill Lieser posting the second-best time of 17:10.BOYSAAA1.
