Bicycle motocross set Sunday“Pedal freaks” will have their day Sunday when Jim tamkin of Jim’s Yamaha Center will sponsor an afternoon of the latest craze in two-wheel competition, bicycle motocross.Racing begins at 1:30 Sunday afternoon on the track next to the Yamaha shop, on Rt. 13 west of the Harrisburg city limits, opposite the Bowen Center.I^mkin said he will divide entrants into age groups, and hopes to have enough entries to offer three heats of two or three laps each in each group.Contestants will have to negotiate two jumps, two hills and some mudholes on the tricky ourse. which should provide plenty of thrills for the spectators and riders alike.Entry fee is $1, I^imkin said, and cash prizes will be awarded to the extent of entries. The race is a non-profit affair.Race regulations call for each rider to have a helmet and to have two number plates on the bike, one in front and one on the left side. Minors must furnish a notarized consent from parents or guardians relieving the race sponsor oPwny responsibility in case of accidents, tamkin also saic it would be best if parents accompanied the younger riders.Any make of bike is eligible, I^mkin said, “as long as it has brakes.”Pre-entry would be helpful for riders who want a guaranteed number, the sponsor added. The entrv fee and notarized statement can be brought to the Yamaha Center any time before Sunday.In the event of rain all night Saturday or on Sunday morning, the race will be postponed, I^mkin added.The public is invited to watch the daredevil competition.
