Base Ball.Clipper* vi, Hoo»ler—Second Game of tile Second Serle*—Clippers Vlclorl-•na-A Splendid Game,The finest game of base ball ever played in this part of the State was that between the Clippers and Hoosiers, at Lawrence-burgh, last Thursday. From the beginning to the close it was close and exciting, both nines playing a remarkable game in the field, and the Clippers doing some safe batting.;: By this game the Clippers have demonstrated the fact that there is pkiy in them and they can well feel proud of their victory. Now let their friends praise them for they deserve it. As for the Hoosiers they have no reason, to be ashamed of this defeat. We were sorry to see the dispatch from Lawrenceburgh in the Cincinnati papers, not because the Hoosiers are ashamed to have, their, defeat known, but because they were called the would-be champions when it is ft well known fact that they have never claimed the championship of anything not even of Centre township, and such a dispatch was calculated to make the public believe that they laid claims to great superiority. Did they make any pretentions to be a great nine they might have telegraphed their former games with the Clippers to Cincinnati in all of which they were victorious, the last one being a complete slaughter of the Clippers. They have never claimed anything only that they were able to play a fair game of ball and this they have fully |proved.
