Time: 3 p. m.Although Inclement weather has halted the practice sessions of both the Koolmotors and Grenadiers, both clubs will be rarin* to go this afternoon in their struggle for city championship honors. According to information handed out baseball bugs have been waiting for this tilt to take place and the betting la even as to which club will win. The game was supposed to be played last Sunday, but was set back a week on account of the Chicago C. Y. O. tournament. However, some of the City leaguers were fortunate in playing against the fast House of David nine, on this same date. The Grenadiers and Koolmotors are pretty well matched as far as baseball statistics go. Their team batting average differs only one point and their fielding records compare equally. The Grenadiers have a 400 hitter !n Kleih, who is now doing duty around second base. Then, too, Welu, who has taken over the third base assignment, is batting about .387, and Airheart Is in the .300 group. The Koolmotors are led by their manager, who is batting .426. and Petrakis, although only playing in four contests, is hitting .428 The inner defense of both teams rate about even and the Koolmotors have a slight advantage In the outer garden. Both clubs possess timely hitters. Ken Pension, although not bitting like past seasons, has come through when bits meant runs and Koob has also delivered in the pinch. The same bolds true of C. Kleeman and M. Nicks of the Grenadiers. The Grenadiers will have two dependable pitchers to rely on and the same can be said of the Koolmotors. Badger of the Grenadiers was voted as an all-star twirler and his masterful game against the llllnoia-Wiacon-•in All-Stars is atill remembered. Bertsch has pitched steady ball for Lionel McAleece’s team and looked especially good against the House of David nine in his two innings of toil. His work against the Koolmotors In their last hook-up was three-hit pitching and a coat of whitewash. About the Koolmotors, Sprenglemeyer has rated top position for some time because of bis great records the past three or four years. New, another Koolmotor product, has pitched brilliantly all year —J it was through his work, in the ence of Sprenglemeyer, thst the Gas boys in the thick of scrap. From the talk around town about the game this afternoon there should be quite a crowd at the ’ole orchard to witness the scrap. A great crowd saw the House of David game and most«of them went to see the bearded boys in action. However, before they left the park they were shouting praises about the Dubuque lads. This has been a fact in all the All-Star games this year. In ofher words the Dubuque City leaguers are capable of playing faat baseball. The game will be called at 8 o clock and Breithaupt and Gronau will be the arbiters in the afternoon’s pastime.
