BOXING CONTEST AT COLISEUM.Next Thursday evening at the Coliseum the Lincoln Athletic club will give its first boxing contest. The principals will be Jimmy Potts of Minneapolis and Harry Lewis of Philadelphia, both fast, scientific men and lightweights of the premier class.Harry Lewis has the reputation of boxing Joe Gans to a draw at Philadelphia and many thought he had the best of the go. Joe Thomas, who became such a favorite here last spring, saw the contest and wrote the Terre Haute matchmaker, Dennis Shea, that Lewis should have had the decision. Lewis is managed by Billy Hogan, who also manages Mike Schreclc.. Jimmy Potts is practically a new man at the game but is said to be the equal of Lewis in every respect. Max Luttbeg, who wrestled Alex Swanson for an hour and a half Thursday night at the Coliseum, is a personal friend of Potts’ and says he is the best man at 133 pounds in the country.A fast ten-round semi-windup for the Potts-Lewis mill will be between Greek Jimmy Ryan and Jerry Murphy of Indianapolis. Murphy is the best of the talent of that city at his weight and will give the Terre Haute Greek a hard go.There will be no preliminaries besides the semi-windup, as it is the intention of the club to present nothing but seasoned and trained athletes in these contests. No young boys will be allowed to take part in any of the exhibitions.According to the articles of agree- • ment for the contest Thursday the principals will weigh in at 133 pounds at 3 p. m. on the day of the contest.
