The club knew that efforts in other Michigan cities the size of the Sault to keep wrestling and boxing going had failed. But the 25 Sault men tossed $10 each in the pool and with the $250 launched a program which has brought Sault sports fans the finest in boxing and wrestling this city has bad in many years. They sought good talent for the boxing and wrestling shows, but it cost plenty of money. Then, too, the $100 for the club license, state and federal taxes, etc., all made the going tough. Crowds turned out for some of the programs, while at others the club went behind. Since the first show was staged February 11, in*I 7-Laclt;p11Cf1lt;3the Armory, the club has sponsored ten professional wrestling and boxing programs. The club put on the show of the year July 22, when Royal Gauthier of Detroit won adecision over Johnny Nagy of FlintAny real fight fan who saw that card, which also had four good prc--liminaries, agrees it was worth far more than the price he paid foradmission. Yet, one of the heaviest rainfalls of the summer nearly ruined the organization. There were indications that the Armory j 'wouldn’t be able to hold the crowd. Interest was high. The club has also arranged for two other bouts through Detroit promoters. There is little left in the club treasury after rain nearly washed out the show' in July. If Sault fans want more good wrestling and boxing shows during the coming fall and winter, they'd better support the program tomorrow night. The club is not asking for a donation. It is inviting Sault sportsfans to get the most they can get for their money in an evening’s entertainment. Fans will not be asked to take a chance on getting their money's -worth.
