BARNHART ONLY PROBABLE EX-BLUE STAR TO BE SEEN IN WORLD SERIESFormer Hustlers* Third Sacker Expected To Furnish Much Of Punch I n Pirate Attack.Preeent prsopects Indicate that Clyde Barnhart, former Frederick outfielder, and third baseman, will be the only Blue Ridge League product to break into the- World Series next month. Last year Hack Wilson carried the Blue Ridg? hopes in the big series, and it looks very much like Clyde will have to do the trick this year. His presence will be felt more than Wilson's, for the former Hustler is holding down the clean-up berih ih the Pirate lineup, and is expected to lend much of the punch to the attack of that club.With the Athletics out of the way practically, it looks Tery much like the Senators will battle the Pirates for the international honors. This being the case. Clyde will be the only former Blue Ridger to be seen in action in the classics.Barney was with Frederick in 1915 and 1916, aiding Jack Morrison, along with Bill Lamar, to bring the first Blue Ridge pennant to Frederick. He larer went higher, playing sensational ball for Birmingham in the Southern Association League to win a berth with the Smoky City National League outfit. For five years he has been on the payroll of the Pirates, having good years as well as only mediocre seasons. Last year he hit only .276. bnt this season he maintains an average around the .330 mark, once ranking among the leading hitters of the league.The work of Barney this year has been one of the bright lights of the Pirate play.
