The funeral of James S. Miller, who passed away after a long illness in the Jennie Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs last Saturday, September 1G, was held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. j. E. Wilkins preached the funeral sermon. The pallbearers were the employees of the three banks of Malvern, of which the deceased had for many years been the janitor. The following obituary was read:James S. Miller was born in Ray county, Mo., March 10, 1846. His parents died when he was a mere babe and he was taken into the home of Jesse Fowler and raised to manhood. He never tired of telling how good father Fowler was to him. At the age of eight they moved to Iowa with him and in this county he made his home for more than sixty years.When a young man he learned the blacksmith trade from Mr, Fowler and followed that trade for years.
