Beaver Local Awaits First GameIn Its History Saturday AfternoonAnother scholastic football team appears on the local scene Saturday afternoon when Beaver Local plays the first game in its history at New Waterford.The charges of Coach Bob Sctles will be entertaining the East Pal-Beaver LocalSeeks Case GamesCoach Bob Scoles said he has four games lined up for Beaver Local during the 1956-57 basketball season and is seeking additional dates with interested schools.He said' Beaver Local will meet United Local and Newell twice each in home-and-h o m e series. Dates have not been announced as yet.Schools interested in playing Beaver Local are asked to contact Scoles at the new school on Route 7.isestine Reserves. Kickoff time 2:30 p. m.Beaver Local will play four home games at the New Waterford field because the gridiron at the site of the new school on Route 7 has not been completed. They are freshmen and sophomores.Scoles expects an enrollment of about 200 boys next year, which would make Beaver Local a Class “AA” school. There will not be a Senior Class at the school until the 1958-59 term.The coach said his charges are eager to get the season underway.Questioned as to the prospects in this initial season, Scoles saidthe East Liverpool Reserves will be the toughest opponent, while Salineville and the New Water-ford-Fairfield Reserves will be other strong foes.]He expects Beaver Local to hold its own against the East Palestine Reserves, United Local and Cardinal Mooney, a new parochialhigh school in Youngstown. The East Palestine Reserves will be met twice.Scoles said a recent scrimmage with Chester pointed up the inexperience of his players.He said another problem is transportation. The youngsters reside at scattered points throughout the sprawling school district and findit difficult to get to and from practice.wAlthough scheduling always proves a problem for a new school, Scoles hopes to enter Beaver Local in a league of some sort in the future. Scoles accepted his position at Beaver Local after serving as head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Randolph, near Akron, last year.He coached all sports at N e w Waterford several years ago and also served at Columbus St. Mary’s and at New Albany, near Columbus.He graduated from Columbus South High School in 1941 and Ohio State University in 1950. He is a veteran of 14 months army ser-Ivice.
