He managed to scrape through the ninth although allowing two hits, but the Monarchs hammered his no longer effective delivery for the winning counters in the tenth. The ten inning game, which was played in the near record breaking time of one hour and 25 minutes, was watched by a crowd of 510 who paid admissions and the usual couple hundred gate crashers at Athletic park. The teams played on even terms for eight innings with the hard hitting Monarchs being held to five hits in that time by Art Stokes, ace of the Bearded Boys’ pitching staff, while Johnny Donaldson, Monarch southpaw, allowed the Davids six hits in the ten innings.Five Errors. The game was devoid of sensation, however, while the Davids were charged with three infield errors and the Monarchs two, although none of them figured in the scoring. The Monarchs started their tenth inning rally when Pitcher Donaldson got his third hit of the game, a double to right center. He scored on Taylor’s single, Taylor went to third on Dwight’s single, but was thrown out at the plate on Young’s infield grounder, Dwight going to third.Young stole second unmolested and Rogan then came through with a Texas leaguer to right field to score Dwight and Young and give the Monarchs a 4 to 1 lead after which Donaldson sent the Davids down in order in the last of the tenth. The Davids got their one run in the first frame when Bosse doubled to the cars in right center. He made it all the way home but,was limited to two bases by a ground rule. He scored, however, on Travnor’s single.
