(AP) -The Syracuse Chiefs wrapped up the rain - bedeviled Little World Series Saturday with a 5-3 win over Omaha.The win gave the Chiefs the championship of minor league baseball.Saturday’s game in MacAr-thur Stadium stretched into theCox scored the winning run on a triple hit by George Pena. Earlier in the game the Chiefs harvested homers by Cox, Bobby Mitchell and Bill Robinson.The Omaha Royals started thegame with a bang, scoring two runs in the first inning on two wild pitches. After that the playtightened, with the teams tied at3 after nine innings.With Cox’s run, plus an insurance run scored by George Pena, the scries drew to a close ' ith five games played.Winning pitcher for the Chiefs was reliefer Hal Reniff Paul Splittorff took the loss for the Royals.Syracuse dominated the best-of-seven series, losing only one game—the fourth—to its Omaharival.The series had been set to open in Omaha, hut rainy weather finally led to a switch to Syracuse last Tuesday. Playing in their home stadium, the Chiefs defeated the winners of the American Association pennant 2-f.Omaha threatened briefly in the eighth inning when Syracuse pitcher Rob Gardiner tossed a wild one, but the two men on base never made it home.
