Car-Less Spurlock Speedway Champts Bill Spurlock, present at the ‘• Valley Speedway’s season finale without a car, was awarded the track’s 1966 Championship trophy. jSpurlock’s car was put out of (lt; action in a grinding collisionI11Ithree weeks ago.Eric Ortloff’s 20.9 lap time Sunday afternoon to cop the speedway’s fast-time trophy.In Sunday’s opener, six high-point cars of the season com-;( peted in a special dash which I was won by Frank Warburton. £ Eric Ortloff nosed out Don Martin in the fast qualifiers event t and John Eberle of Bozeman a won the “B” dash. IBThe heat races went to Jack J Parker, Don Martin and Walley 5 Diteman.The semi-final event of the af- ' ternoon was a second Eberle , victory until the mandatory tear-down after the program disqualified Eberle’s Hudson, giving the race to Hank Whitaker.Diteman managed to hold an early lead to come home first j* in the main event. i*The track management announced the 1967 season will get | underway the first week in May.
