A pass by Bruce Morris had set upthe first play.The first quarter of the game was scoreless. The ball changed hands several times. Both teams gained mainly on the ground, missed passes, and punted out.An intercepted pass gave Austin the bail as Lane pounded toward the Austin goal at the start of the second period. Line plays took the ball out. and then the 145 pound Mavigliano, eluding a host of would-be tacklprs. ran for 62 yards and the first touchdown of the game.Score On First PlavAustin kicked off to Lane after the conversion was missed to leave the score 6-0. On the first play following the kickoff. Don Burenz plucked Mike Conforms fumble in mid-air and raced 35 yards for another six points. Mavigliano kicked the extra point to make the score 13-0.Lane tallied in the second period on a 40-yard pass from Alex Cichanski to Martin Skut-nik, left end, who dashed five yard* to the double stripe. The half ended 13-6 as the Techmenfailed to convert.A bad pass from center on an attempted punt sent Burenz racing back to be smeared for a safety and two points for Lane In the third period. A few minutes later an Austin fumble paved the way for Lane's winning touchdown in the sameperiod.Recover FumbleLane recovered the fumble on the nine-yard line. A 15 yard penalty sent them back to the 24-yard stripe.
